FLORENCE-On July 24, 2026, at around 10:56AM, Florence Police Department officers responded to Cloverdale Road near the Dutch Bros Coffee in regards to a cyclist being struck by a vehicle. hospital due to the severity of their injuries. At the time of this release, we do not know the current condition of the victim.
On July 25, 2026, at around 1:30AM, Scarlet Montgomery called the Florence Police Department and advised she was in a crash on Cloverdale Road. Officers arrived at her location and observed a silver Toyota Rav4 with damage that would be consistent with the vehicle that left the scene of the earlier crash involving the cyclist.
After further investigation, Scarlet Montgomery, 19, of Florence, AL, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Assault 1st Degree, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury. Montgomery was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center and has since been released on a $35,500 bond.
Scarlet Montgomery is innocent until proven guilty.
