Laura Mae Bishop, age 62, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born on July 4, 1964, in Marks, MS, and lived a life centered on faith, family, kindness and love. A devoted homemaker, Laura dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. Her unwavering faith in God and commitment to her church were the foundation of her life. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel special, always celebrating their accomplishments, encouraging them through difficult times, and welcoming everyone with warmth and compassion. Her gentle spirit, infectious smile, and generous heart touched countless lives. Laura will be remembered not only for her kindness, but also for the joy she found in life’s simple blessings and for the love she so freely gave. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the many lives she touched with grace and compassion. Laura was a devoted wife to Kenneth Bishop and a loving mother to Hollie Tharp (Joey) and Kimberly Ball (Jacob). She found her greatest joy in her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Logan Tharp, Cullen Tharp, Nolan Tharp, Clara Rose Ball and Lawsyn Ball, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
A celebration of life will be at 3:00pm Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Johnny Cook and Bro. Mike Daniels. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Laura is survived by her siblings, Freddie White, Jr., Ruby Hudson, Debra Bishop and Kathy Holloway, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Freddie White, Sr. and Stella White, her beloved sister, Christina Carwyle and her brother-in-law, Dexter Carwyle.
Pallbearers will be Joey Tharp, Jacob Ball, Logan Tharp, Cullen Tharp, Nolan Tharp and Nathan Gregory.
Visitation, 1:00pm until service time Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that Laura’s faith has become sight, and she now rests in the eternal peace and presence of her Lord. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
