Rosemary Buford Mitchell Rosemary Buford Mitchell, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026.

Rosemary was born on November 6, 1947, at her parents’ home in Morgan County, Alabama, to John and Iva Nell Buford. She was raised with the values of faith, family, and hard work that she carried throughout her life.

She dedicated many years of service to Joe Wheeler Electric Cooperative and after she retired, she went to work for her son at Decatur Truck and Trailer Sales where she worked an additional 18 years. Rosemary was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and the friendships she built.

She had a passion for Auburn football and rarely missed cheering on the Tigers. She also loved traveling, spending time with her family, and caring for her beloved dogs. Whether gathered around the table with loved ones or enjoying a trip to somewhere new, Rosemary treasured making memories with those she loved most.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Iva Nell Buford.

Rosemary is survived by her sons, David Mitchell (Amy) and Jason Mitchell (Bridget); her sisters, Linda Dusseau and Patty Poplar; her grandchildren, Peyton Mitchell, Cortland Mitchell, Tristen Mitchell, and McKenzie Bunch (Louis); and two great-grandchildren, Daniel John Mitchell and Carter Knox Bunch. She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, Alabama with Bro. Shane McGregor officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Rosemary will be remembered for her love of family, her enjoyment of life’s adventures, and the warmth and kindness she shared with those around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in honor of Rosemary to the Dementia Society of America for research or Decatur Animal Services.
