Mazelle Collins Turner was born on February 7, 1938, to Aubrey Travis Collins and Inez Blaylock Collins in Winona, MS, and passed from this life on July 21, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest of three children and moved to Okolona, Mississippi with her family while she was yet a young child. She graduated with honors from Okolona High School in 1956 where she was valedictorian of her class.
Mazelle met her sweetheart, Ray Turner, in Okolona and they were married on April 1, 1956. Together they raised four children. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothing, pillows, etc. She worked in the furniture industry including Futorian in Okolona and Action Industries in Verona. Mazelle enjoyed tending to her flowers and spending time with her many cats and especially her little dog Bubba. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family dearly. After retirement she kept herself busy with helping on the farm, gardening, and sewing projects.Mazelle was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing and fellowship with her church family. She also served as church secretary for many years.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 24, 2026 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Okolona. Visitation will be from 10 AM to service time at the church. Burial will take place at Boone’s Chapel Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors – Okolona Chapel is honored to serve the family.
Mazelle is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ray Turner; her children, Janice Howell (Bill), Sandra Aiken (Paul), Nancy Griggs, and Allen R. Turner (Vicky). She was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Mazelle was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Inez Collins; her brother Roy Hayes Collins, and sister Evon Collins Reed.
Pallbearers will be Chip Ellis, Mike Eubank, Abe Eubank, Allen C. Turner, Skyler Turner, Daniel Conn, Dan Semore, and Parker Conn. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Howell, Paul Aiken, and Ken Eubank.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.
