Paul Douglas Reeves, 96, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Born on August 7, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Harold and Bessie (Smith) Reeves.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his sons, Paul D. Reeves II (Mable Tsung), Gary J. Reeves, and James M. Reeves; grandchildren, Gabe Evans, Matthew B. Reeves, Megan Kornegay, Summer Freeman, and Sarah Luckie; and great-grandchildren, Harper R. Reeves, Rowan Kornegay, Eleanor “Elle” Kornegay, Dade Freeman, Livi Freeman, Henry Freeman, Elenor Freeman, Natalie Freeman, Asher Freeman, Maggie Freeman, Arthur Freeman, Rosiland Luckie, and Miralee Luckie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Bessie Reeves, and his beloved wife, Margaret Louise Reeves.
A devoted patriot and dedicated public servant, Mr. Reeves proudly served his country in the United States Army for twenty-five years. Following his military career, he shared his knowledge and leadership as an ROTC instructor at Athens High School. He continued his service to the community as a bailiff for the Limestone County court system for thirty-three years. In addition to his public service, Mr. Reeves was a successful businessman with a longstanding career in real estate and property management.
Visitation for Mr. Reeves will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Gabe Evans, Matthew Reeves, Kyle Kornegay, Jon Freeman, Michael Luckie, and Dade Freeman.
Mr. Reeves will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community. His legacy of service and integrity will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
