William Edward Flippo, 75, of Paint Rock, passed away Friday.
William Edward Flippo was most known for his love of God, his family, and hunting and fishing. He was born and raised in New Hope, Alabama where he grew up working as a share cropper and picking cotton. During his life he was a “jack of all trades,” doing a variety of jobs such as floor installation, working at the saw mill, and owning his own mechanic shop. In his later years, he retired from working with Madison County after approximately 20 years of service. He leaves behind the legacy of being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, as well as a faithful servant to the Lord. His love and kindness will stay with us forever.
He was preceded in death by mother, Cora Elizabeth “Alice” Jenkins Flippo; father, Emmett Eugene Flippo; two brothers, Arthur “Don” Flippo and Floyd Emmett Flippo; four sisters, Kallie Sue Berry, Zora Still, Hazel Inez Harbin, and Gladys Louise Jennings.
Surviving are wife, Helen Flippo; two daughter, Patricia Flippo and Pam Flippo (Wade Simpson); two son, William “Son” Flippo Jr. (Beverly Powell) and Charles Davis (Paula Davis); sister, Margie Samson; and six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Friday at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be Wesley Osburn, Chris Osburn, David Osburn, Lonnie Osburn, Brett Dixson, and Wade Flippo.
Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Princeton, AL.
