A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Waverlyn Etta Shaneyfelt, age 89, of New Hope, AL passed away on Sunday July 19, 2026. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Free Holiness Church for over 60 years. Sis. Waverlyn was born to John and Alice Farmer in Clanton, AL on July 15th, 1937. She was the youngest daughter and was the nineth out of ten children.

In 1954 Freddy Coy Shaneyfelt won her heart with his good looks, charm, and ability to always make her laugh. They quickly married in 1954 at a small chapel in Mississippi. Soon after, Bro. Freddy joined the U.S. Airforce as a service man. For ten years he served in the Airforce during both the Korean and Vietnam wars and moved to various bases across the country. Sis. Waverlyn, being a faithful and loving wife, traveled with him whenever she was allowed to.

They grew their family during those ten years as they lived at various Airforce bases. Their first son, Randy, was born while they lived in California. Next they moved to Georgia and had Royce. After that they moved back West to New Mexico and had Daniel. At times Bro. Freddy had to leave for work and patch planes during the wars. Sis. Waverlyn would stay behind without any family close by, raising the kids on whatever budget was left for her. Finally after a decade of serving, they moved back to Alabama and had their baby girl, Esther.

Several years later they moved up to New Hope, AL where they lived out the rest of their lives serving the Lord and raising a beautiful family.

Sis. Shaneyfelt is preceded in death by her parents John and Alice Farmer and her husband Bro. Freddy Shaneyfelt. She is survived by her children Randy Shaneyfelt (Nancy) of Mobile, AL; Royce Shaneyfelt; Daniel Shaneyfelt (Teresa); Esther Parks (Bill). Her sister Loretta Veasey of Leeds, AL; grandchildren Jenna Shaneyfelt, Anna (Tyler) Hill, Kelsey Shaneyfelt Bendall, Haley Shaneyfelt and several great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 23rd from 12pm – 2pm. Funeral to follow at 2pm at Hampton Cove Funeral Home in Owens Cross Roads, AL. Bro. Lavon Stone and Bro. Ollie Cooper will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Tyler Hill, Tim Hill, Dale Stone, Toby Thomas, George Jones, and Aaron Stone. She will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
