Alva “Bud” Harrison King
April 24th, 1941 – July 17th, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Alva “Bud” Harrison King, who peacefully entered his heavenly home on July 17th, 2026. After only a short time apart, he was joyfully reunited with Sally King, his beloved wife of 62 years who passed on July 2nd, 2026.
Originally from Hannibal, Missouri, Bud eventually went on to meet Sally, his sweetheart and quite literally the girl next door, in Eldon, Missouri. Together Bud and Sally began their married life and started their family in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where they settled in 1965. Their journey later led them to Norton, Ohio, in 1977, then to Franklin, Tennessee, in 1994. Following his retirement, they made their home in Smithville, Tennessee, in 2006, where they found joy in the beauty and tranquility of Center Hill Lake and embraced the peaceful life they had always dreamed of together.
To know him was to know kindness. He truly never met a stranger, welcoming everyone with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a genuine interest in their lives. He possessed a rare gift for comforting others, offering encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering faith to anyone who crossed his path.
A man of steadfast faith, he devoted his life to serving both God and others. He was a teacher, preacher, and elder within his church priesthood, faithfully sharing God’s Word and ministering to countless people throughout his life. His quiet example, compassionate spirit, and servant’s heart touched more lives than he could ever have known.
Professionally, he enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career with Bridgestone Firestone in Environmental Affairs. His strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Outside of work and ministry, he found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, caring for his yard, and admiring classic automobiles—especially Studebakers, which always held a special place in his heart.
Above all else, he will be remembered as a faithful husband, a devoted father and grandfather, a trusted friend, and a man whose life reflected humility, compassion, and unwavering faith. His legacy is one of love, service, and steadfast devotion to his family, his church, and his Savior.
Bud is survived by his four children, Debra Bowes, Michael King, Laura Randall, and Christina King; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sally, his parents, Alva and Bertha Leona King, his twin brother, Harry Alan King, and his half-brother, Don King.
To honor Bud’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Bud’s memory are invited to make a memorial donation to their preferred charitable organization, or to Smithville Christian Fellowship Church.

Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his family rejoices in the promise that he is now reunited with Sally, embraced by the Lord he faithfully served, and at peace for eternity. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
