Mrs. Laura Mae Sanford Branford was born June 4, 1941 in Madison County to the late Eliger Sanford and Ella Lee Langford Sanford.
She confessed hope in Christ in 1971 and joined St. Elizabeth C.P. Church in America under the leadership of Reverend George Moore, Sr.
Laura was an Usher for thirty-two years and she was the president of the Usher Board for eight years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. She was the founder of the Birthday Committee. She became a mother of St. Elizabeth C.P.C.A. Mother Board, and she served on many committees in the church. She was one of the persons on Pastor Gregory Woods Anniversary Committee.
She leaves to mourn her passing devoted children: one son, James Lee Sanford, Sr. of Huntsville, AL; one daughter, Arbella Watkins (Donald); five sisters, Mary Lou Moore of Chattanooga, TN, Elnora Miller (Roosevelt) and Carolyn Adams both of Huntsville, AL, Demease Ghoalston (Charlie) and Victoria Sanford both of Decatur, AL; seven brothers, Elijah Sanford, Jr. (Henrietta), Jerry Russell (Ernestine), Lawrence Sanford (Patricia) all of Harvest, AL, Billy Sanford of Huntsville, AL, Paul Taylor, Victor Wayne Sanford (Lisa), Shawn Sanford (Christy) all of Decatur, AL; four uncles, Frank Langford, Sr. (Louise), Robert Langford (Barbara), Roosevelt Langford all of Jacksonville, FL, Charlie Langford, Sr. (Mary); two aunts, Norine Rice (Milton) and Corene Langford both of Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.
