Muriel Jean Hoover Wallace age 75 of Smithville passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at her residence. She was born November 1,1950, to the late Patricia Marie and Harold Robert Lambert Hoover, Sr. in Peoria, Illinois. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Eugene Wallace; grandson, James Nance Amberson; sister, Deborah Ann Hoover and nephew Larry Earl Samuel, Jr. She retired from Pima County Tucson, Arizona, worked for the DeKalb County Election division and was of the Catholic faith. She is survived by three children, Lorene Wallace (Carrie Elkins) of Smithville, Paulette (Robert Lee, Sr.) Ruffner of Benson, Az and Brenda Wallace of Smithville; stepson, Ricky (Lisa) Wallace of Kingston, TN; granddaughter, Loretta Jean (Jose) Chavez of Tucson, Az.; three grandsons, David Allen (Shanna) Amberson, Robert Lee Ruffner, Jr. of Benson, Az and Shayne Eugene (Cassandra) Wallace of Tulsa, Ok; great-great granddaughter, Annabelle Wallace of Tulsa, Ok; special great-great grandson, Michael James Sagasta of Tucson, Az; two brothers, Harold Robert Hoover, Jr. of Frankfort, Illinois and Mark Edward Hoover of Smithville, two nieces Angela Jean (Mike) Lesniewicz and Nichole Vlcek (Pat) Cowell; many great nieces and nephews also survive. The family has honored Ms. Muriel request to be cremated, and no services are planned at this time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Wallace family.
