Thomas Brandon “Tommy” Walls II
Thomas Brandon “Tommy” Walls II, 70, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026, at his home in Campbellsville.
He was born March 14, 1956, in Nashville to Geraldleen Carvell Walls and Thomas Brandon Walls.
Tommy was a 1974 graduate of Campbellsville High School. His life was deeply rooted in the Campbellsville community, where he was the eighth generation of his family to live. With the exception of his first five years in Nashville and a short time as a young man driving a truck in Alaska during construction of the pipeline, Campbellsville remained the place Tommy called home.
Family history mattered to Tommy, and much of that began with his grandfather, Dewey Carvell. As a boy, Tommy was often at his side, listening, learning and forming a bond that stayed with him throughout his life. From his grandparents, he carried stories of the people and places that tied one generation of his family to the next.
Years later, Tommy found that same kind of companionship with his grandson Kipp. In Kipp, he recognized the steady presence he had once been for his own granddaddy, and that relationship became one of the great joys of his life.
Tommy learned the value of hard work early. While still in high school, he helped tend his family’s farm, caring for cattle, raising crops and doing whatever the season required. The farm stayed at the center of his life — a place of pride, purpose and belonging.
His primary profession, though, took him on the road. Tommy spent his working life as a truck driver, both independently and for various companies through the years. His hauls carried him across much of the country and into nearly every state. He loved the stories that came from life on the road and the fellowship of other truckers who understood its demands, its miles and its memories. Among his treasured memories was a long haul through the Northeast and into New York City with his beloved Granddaddy Carvell, a trip they both loved retelling through the years.
In retirement, Tommy enjoyed visiting his Aunt Martha, talking to friends and neighbors at the Campbellsville Café, continuing to work on his farm and spending time with his father and brother. In recent years, Tommy attended Richland Baptist Church, where he found comfort and assurance in his faith.
Tommy loved his family. He was proud of his children and their accomplishments, cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchild, and held close the wider circle of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who had been part of his life from the beginning. He had a tender heart, a generous nature and a willingness to help when someone needed him. He was a man who felt things deeply, remembered what mattered to him and carried more stories than most people ever knew.
He is survived by his father, Thomas Brandon Walls; son Brandon Walls; three daughters, Brandy Walls Garner and husband Dwight, Bethany Walls Kennedy and husband Michael, and Katie Walls; brother Timothy Carvell Walls and wife Mary Lou; one aunt, Martha Carvell Russell; grandchildren, Alexandria Garner Barnett and husband Caleb, Sara Garner Carter and husband Jackson, Owen Garner, Karter Kennedy, Maddox Kennedy, Kipp Devers, Karsyn Stone and Kanon Allen; and great-granddaughter Evelynn Barnett. Two nieces, Jillian Walls and Makenna Walls; nephew Levi Walls; and step-daughter Mary Beth Hollman Tidwell and husband Mark, and their sons Maxton and Miles Tidwell, also survive.
He will be missed by his faithful dog, Scout, who provided constant companionship.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldleen Carvell Walls; his maternal grandparents, Dewey and Eula Mae Owen Carvell; and his paternal grandparents, Thomas Elner and Ruby Cooper Walls.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory with Rick Bilyeu, senior Pastor of Richland Baptist Church, officiating.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Richland Baptist Church, Lynnville, Tennessee.
