Mary Ann Bright Wilks, 79, of Arab passed away Friday July 3, 2026, at her residence. Mary Ann was born December 2, 1946, in Marshall County, the daughter of Melvin Leroy “Doc” Bright and Mary Francis Morrow Bright. She graduated from Arab High School in 1965, and was married on December 15, 1967, to Wendell Wilks. Mary Ann worked for Eaton for 30 years and then at Atrion for 19 years as an accounting secretary. She was a faithful member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter: Tammy (Jarrett) Pate; grandchildren: Matthew (Abbe-Gayle) Pate and Wendi (Ethan) Glass; great grandchildren: John Brooks Pate, Mary-Kate Pate, Jameson Lee Pate and Mattie Ruth Glass along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her husband Wendell Wilks who passed away on August 4, 1991.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday July 7, 2026, at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jimmy Aaron and Brother Greg Stone officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Brother Michael Lackey conducting the committal service, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and on Tuesday 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Pallbearers: Matthew Pate, Ethan Glass, Tony Newton, Wayne Bright, Joey Light and Andy Wilks.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Heartlite Hospice, 401 South Market Street, Scottsboro, AL 35768.
