Walter Richard Rives, age 84, formerly of Albertville, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his sleep at UAB Hospital in Birmingham on June 27, 2026.
Walter was a longtime employee of Albertville Municipal Utilities Board (M.U.B.) and retired from Tyson Poultry.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nelda Stewart Rives of Albertville; his three sons, James Richard Rives, Randall Rives, and Shane Rives, all of Albertville; his granddaughter, Dyllan Rives; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Rives, and his two sisters, Brenda Rives and Joyce Gant.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Old Fairview Cemetery in Albertville, Alabama. Adams Brown Service is assisting the family.
