With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of our beloved Mother, Joyce Elaine Holland Lewey, who went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 19, 2026. She slipped peacefully into His presence, surrounded by her family, just as she lived- with quite strength, deep faith and unwavering grace.
Born January 17th, 1932, in Coldwater, Kansas, to Aubrey and Elizabeth Holland, she met and married Terry E. Lewey, Sr, June 10th, 1956. Together, they raised their family in the Shoals area and York Terrace (now York Bluff) Baptist Church. She was employed in health care at Helen Keller and ECM hospitals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, youngest son Seth (surviving wife Leslie), brothers Lawrence, Glenn, Dan, and Audrey (Bud) Holland. She is survived by sons Gene (Suzan) and Curtis (Ginger) Lewey, daughter Martha (David) Muse, sister Kathy Holland and brother Bill (Donna) Smith of Clovis, NM. She leaves behind many grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren.
Mom’s life was a reflection of Christ’s love. She poured kindness into every person she met, offered comfort without hesitation, and carried a gentle spirit that made others feel safe and seen. Her faith was not only spoken but lived daily, shaping our family and leaving a legacy that will continue for generations.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in knowing she is now whole, joyful, and resting in the arms of her Savior. We take comfort in the promise that this separation is only temporary. One day, we will join her again in heaven, worshiping together at the feet of our Lord.
Until that day, we honor her by living with the same love, humility, and faith she showed us. Her light remains with us, guiding our steps and reminding us that love never ends.
Visitation will be at Elkins Funeral Home in Florence, June 24th, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with a graveside service to follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence, at 1 PM.
