Jackie Glenn Hicks, affectionately known as “Jackie,” passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 69.  Born on June 25, 1956, in Red Bay, Alabama, Jackie lived a life marked by hard work, strong convictions, and a deep love for his family. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of God and held firmly to his faith throughout his life. His relationship with God was important to him, and he was never shy about sharing his beliefs with others.

Jackie enjoyed many hobbies over the years, especially flying radio-controlled airplanes and riding his beloved motorcycle. He had a passion for life and never met a stranger. Those who knew him knew that if you sat and talked with Jackie very long, the conversation would eventually turn to politics or religion—two subjects he was passionate about and enjoyed discussing with anyone willing to listen.

Throughout his life, Jackie worked hard to provide for his family. He held various jobs in his younger years and greatly enjoyed his time working for Sport and Barbra Harris. He later joined Schnadig, where through dedication and hard work he became the Table Plant Manager. He faithfully served the company for 18 years until its closure. Following that chapter of his life, Jackie spent another 18 years as a truck driver before retiring.

More than anything, Jackie loved people—especially children. He had a special place in his heart for “them babies,” and nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a devoted companion to his cherished fur babies, Abby and Sophie.

Jackie was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Hicks; his father, Damos Hicks; his mother, Ruth Slaughter; and his brothers, Tommy Hicks and Hollis Hicks.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his special friend, Donna Page; his daughter, Cristy Hicks George (Randal); his grandchildren, Jake Miller, Alex Ferreri (A.J.), Katlyn Hicks, Jackson Hicks (CiCi), Lydia Miller, Lyndsey Lanphear (Dawson), Brianna Wright (Mike) and Bentley George; his great-grandchildren, Freddy Ferreri, Arabella Ferreri, Atlas Hicks, Arianna Rollins, Hunter Green, and Grayson Bridge; brother, Charlie Hicks (Pauleen); his sisters, Ellen Bohannon and Lucille Wallace; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 23, 12 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God with Bro. Bobby Jerrell and Bro. Micah Jackson officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, June 22, 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 10-12 at Cornerstone Church of God.  Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jake Miller, Dawson Lanphear, Jeremy Page, Devin Nichols, Hayden Nichols and Shannon Upton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Holley, Jerrell Gillentine, Brian Upton and Bentley George.

Though his family mourns his passing, they find comfort in knowing that Jackie has finished his earthly journey and is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior. His legacy of faith, determination, conversation, laughter, and love for family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
