Mr. William Edward Scott, age 87, passed away Friday June 19, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. William was a Van Buren County native born on October 17, 1938 to the late William and Victory Yates Scott. William retired from Taft Youth Center as a Corrections Officer, was a former Spencer Police Officer and a farmer. He was a member of Riverside Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings; Delma, John, Pete, Leation, ElVinia, Elbert, Douglas, Marie, Bryant, Harold and Carl.
William is survived by his loving family, wife; Linda Brimer Scott, son; Brian (Becky) Scott, brother; Bob (Gloria) Scott, stepson; Rick (Debbie) Wallace, stepdaughter; Lorie (Jason) Smith, grandchildren; Gary Wayne (Cassie) Scott Jr., Justin Travis Scott, Steven (Emma) Scott, Benjamin Scott, Bayda Scott, great-grandchildren; Journey, Tytus, Brexley and Pike, great-great-grandchild; Roper. A large extended family also survives.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Wayne Sullivan and Bro. Darrell Nance officiating. Burial will follow in Sodom Cemetery. Visitation times are Monday 5:00pm to 9:00pm and Tuesday 9:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
