Carolyn Henshaw, age 82, as of June 6th, passed away on June 13th, 2026.

Born in Ryland, Alabama, Carolyn grew up in the cotton fields of Madison County, where she learned the values of hard work and dependability early in life. She attended Central Junior High, where she was a standout pitcher on the softball field, and later graduated as the Salutatorian of the 1962 class at Gurley High School. Throughout her life, Carolyn firmly believed in working hard and always showing up for the things and people that mattered.

A dedicated professional, Carolyn built a distinguished career in the financial and communications sectors. Over the years, she lent her talents to South Central Bell, Redstone Federal Credit Union, and Barber-Coleman. She ultimately retired from North Alabama Educators Credit Union, where she independently was the entire collections department. Carolyn was known for her big personality and her admirable honesty; she was a woman who always shot straight with her words. Her strength, work ethic, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Beatrice Henshaw; her brother, Bobby Henshaw; and her sister, Eloise Wilson.

She is survived by her brother, Eddie Ray Henshaw; her sister, Carrie Dea Reeves; her daughter, Lisa Patterson; and her son, Keith Jarrell. She also leaves behind the grandsons she loved dearly, Alex (Chelsea) Jarrell and Andy (Aubrey) Jarrell, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and their children.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Shane Baker officiating. Burial will take place at Brown Cemetery.

Honoring Carolyn as pallbearers will be Rodney Henshaw, Dewayne Reavis, David Henshaw, Martin Garding, Brian Calhoun, Dustin Reavis, Nikolai Garding and Henry Calhoun.
