James (Jim) Fredrick Himburg, Jr., passed away on June 12, 2026, in Huntsville Hospital with his wife by his side. He was born on July 18, 1953, in Scottsboro where he lived most of his life.
Honoring Jim’s request, his body will be cremated. His ashes will be scattered privately. No formal service is planned.
Survivors include: his wife of 28 years, Peggy; sons Jacob Himburg (Tammy), and Russell Ferguson (Zoe); and his brother, John Himburg (Peggy).
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Fred and Charlene Himburg.
Jim loved boating on the Tennessee River. He was an animal magnet having a variety of animals throughout his life. The family pets, Pepper and Sheba, will miss him greatly.
Jim was the manager of Goose Pond Manager prior to his retirement in 2015. During his retirement, he loved sitting on the porch in the afternoon watching the boats on the lake. He also enjoyed working in the yard. Jim was a very private person and was happy just being at home.
The family requests donations be made in Jim’s memory to the Scottsboro Animal Shelter.
