John Paul Hill, age 59 of Double Springs, AL, passed away June 12, 2026 at Atrium Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC following a sudden illness.

He was born November 22, 1966 to Thomas and Anna Hill. December 31,1996 he married the love of his life, Paula Faye Miller. John grew up with a love for the outdoors, an inquisitive mind, a love of building things and a deep devotion to his family and friends.John served one tour in the Army National Guard. John created a passion for both Native American artifacts spending as much free time as possible “digging” and simply collecting, many items in museum display (something he was very proud of) and of course old cars. He bought his son a 1969 Camaro when he was 2 years old. Of course, for all who truly know John his love of food. He loved to cook and he loved to host “gatherings” at his home, he loved you all.He loved building which keep him on the road a lot but was proud to have his son work right by his side. Of course nothing could compare to being Pawpaw! They were his sunshine in the morning and his moon light at night and he was their hero!

John is survived by his wife Paula Miller Hill; son, Michael Dwayne Jones (Kaylee)- grandchildren Anna Lisa and Brynlee; mother, Anna Mae Roberts(Kenneth); stepsons, Jonathan Flanagin and Daniel Treece; brother, Thomas Hill (Reba); brother, Robert Hill; sister, Lucy Greene (Steven); and special grandchildren Zachery Hernandez (Karlie)-grandchildren Jayden, Weston, Adalynne and Ashley Hernandez (Michael)- grandchild Lucas; nephews, Steven, Jeremy, Randy, Kyle and Jason; nieces, Nita and Alicia; grandchildren Emma, Sadie, Sarah, Jacob, Zayden, Hadley, Alayiah, Issy; great grandchildren Declan, Zaylee and a host of great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar and Lucy Hill and Eller Mae Reno; father, Thomas Andrew Hill; sister, Eller Gonzalez; stepdaughter, Lisa Flanagin.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Mt Ebron Baptist Church in Double Springs, where the service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Mt Ebron Cemetery.
