
Linda Sheryn Sandifer “Cherry” Sims ,75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 15, 2026, at her home in Mantachie. She was born March 20, 1951, in Jackson, MS, to Alvin Reid Sandifer, of Pelahatchie, MS, and Marie Jeanne Renaud Sandifer of Jackson, MS. A woman of many talents, she was an educator, marketer, research associate, accomplished pianist, and wife/mother/grandmother extraordinaire. She was a member of the First Baptist Church on Fulton.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie, with Rev. Scott Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery in Mantachie. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, J.E. Sims of Mantachie; two sons, James Elbert Sims, Jr. (Erin) of Nashville, TN, and Robert Sims (Katie) of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren, Alayna Sims, Andrew Sims, James Elbert Sims III, Jarin Sims, and Toby Harris; two sisters, Debbie Suggs (Ricky) and Diane Sandifer of, both of Greenwood, MS; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one child who died before physical birth; one brother, John Sandifer; one brother-in-law, Mike Sims; and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church in Fulton, MS.
