G.W. Phillips, passed away on June 13, 2026, at the age of 84 in his resident in Muscle Shoals surrounded by family. He was born in Barton, Alabama to George and Eliza Brown Phillips on June 11, 1942. His visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel with Eric Crawford officiating. Burial will be held at Barton Cemetery following the service.
G.W. is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Faye Wood Phillips; parents, George Phillips and Eliza Brown Phillips; daughter, Kristy Phillips; and sister, Betty Bass.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Kerry), Renee, Cathy, and Sheron; son, Gary: grandchildren, Michael, Eric, Rusty, Buddy (Barbie), Jacob (Jessica), Joseph, Douglas (Amber), Shannon, Laura, Ashley, and Nikki; twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sisters Donnie (JB) and Jane; brothers, Tom (Angie), Billy (Faye), Robert, and Burley; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Moore, Tristan Potoski, Eric Campbell, Rusty Carver, Tommy Phillips, and Tyler Smith.
As the family, we would like to specially thank Gentiva Hospice and his daughters Barbara, Renee, and Cathy for assisting and caring for him in the final nine months of his life.
