Carl Russell Purdon, 62, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at NMMC in Tupelo. Carl was born May 12, 1964, in Pontotoc to James and Kathleen Moss Purdon. Carl was a life long resident of Pontotoc. His favorite place was at home but his second was Gatlinburg, TN. He loved going to the mountains. He had always wanted to be a writer and his dream became a reality in 2012 when he self-published his first novel. He’s since published eight with a ninth one almost finished. He loved spending time with his family, doing yard work, riding on his John Deere tractor mowing and riding the grandbabies. His relaxing time was riding his motorcycle, reading and sitting on the porch writing.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Eddie McKinley will officiate. Burial will follow in Jumpertown Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Survivors, wife, Sharon Knight Purdon; two daughters, Nicole Price (Jeremy) and Jennifer Roberson; two sons, Logan Purdon and James Liverett; five grandchildren, Mathew Liverett, Scout Roberson, Aiden, Madison and Kerri Price; mother, Kathleen Moss Purdon; two sisters, Kathy King (Terry) and Sherry Purdon; two brothers, Gary Purdon (Jimmie) and Daniel Purdon (Stephanie); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by, father, James Russel Purdon.
