A Graveside service for U.S. Army Veteran, Major Edwin Skelton, 87, will be Monday, June 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery with a Military Chaplain officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Major Edwin Hughes Skelton (Retired), 87, passed away, June 11, 2026. While attending Indianola High School in Mississippi he joined the National Guard. After graduating he joined the United States Army. He did two combat tours Vietnam War, served at Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, did two tours in Germany, and his final station was Fort Campbell, KY. Edwin retired as a Major.
In 1977 after 20 years of distinguished service, but his love for his county did not end there. Major Skelton continued to serve at Brewer High School for twenty years teaching JR ROTC.
He was survived by his son, Edwin Hughes Skelton Jr and daughter in law, Erica Skelton.
He was survived by five grandchildren;
Alison Skelton
Caroline Chen
Ester Skelton
Juliana Skelton
and a great-granddaughter Juliet Chen
Major Skelton was also survived by a daughter,
Angela Skelton Wynn, son in law, Joseph Vaughn Wynn,
a grandson, Riley Wynn (married to Hannah Weatherford Wynn),
another grandson, Logan Wynn (married to Stone Taylor Wynn) and
two great-grandsons, Arlo Jameson Wynn and Jensen Anes Wynn)
Edwin Skelton was proceeded in death by his parents Jack Rowell Skelton and Sara Hughes Skelton. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Stella Legg Skelton. He was also proceeded in death by his second wife, McKinney Graham Skelton.
He was survived by two wonderful stepchildren, Thomas Graham (married to Nena Graham) and Katherine McKinney Brewer.
No visitation is scheduled.
