GADSDEN-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident near Gadsden that has takebn the life of one person and sent another person to hospital with injuries:
“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. Monday, June 8, has claimed the life of a Leesburg woman.
Ruth D. Cagle, 73, was critically injured when the 2015 Nissan Juke that she was a passenger in, collided head-on with the 2020 Toyota Highlander driven by Gaines C. Smith, 46, of Vestavia Hills. Cagle was transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment where she later succumbed to injures and was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Nissan, Denver J. Cagle, 76, of Leesburg and Smith, were also both injured and transported to Riverview Medical Center for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. 411 near Anderson Road, approximately one mile north of Gadsden, in Etowah County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
