Freda Louvern GriggsMs. Freda Louvern Griggs, 72, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026. She was a long-term resident of the Allens Cross Roads community, having moved there from Chicago, Illinois. Born in Chicago on June 3, 1954, Freda was the daughter of Albert Lee Mannahan and Mary Lucinda Crunk Mannahan. She worked faithfully as a quality control inspector for SCI/Sanmina and DRS, and she was a devoted member of Believers Church of Morgan City.

Freda will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her church, and her Lord. She was a devoted Christian who joyfully praised the Lord with her tambourine. To her family, she was their anchor and confidante; to her co-workers, she was known as a “Gold Star” quality inspector. She also had a special fondness for the color purple and a good cup of coffee—simple joys that brought warmth to her life.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Mannaham and Mary Williams, brothers, Mark Douglas Williams and James Crouch.

Freda is survived by her children Allan Burgess and Crystal Scott (Jonathan); grandchildren, Caleb Scott, Andrew Scott, Alivea Burgess and Matthew Burgess (Gretchen); siblings, Cledith Crouch (Deloris), Timothy Crouch, Thomas Crouch (Liz), Terry Crouch (Ruth), Michael Mannahan (Karen), Robert Crouch (Becky), Robina Hendrix, Bobby Williams (Tina), Jimmy Williams, (Cindy), and Danny Williams, (Misty).

A service to celebrate Freda’s life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Phillip Cody will be officiating services. Interment will follow at the Church of the Living God Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Burgess, Gretchen Burgess, Alivea Burgess, Caleb Scott, Andrew Scott and Trent Cornelius. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel are assisting the family with arrangements.
