Mrs. Maxine Guthrie Wallace, 96, of Townley, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 at her residence. Collins-Burke Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
Mrs. Wallace is preceded in death by her Husband-Howard Doyle Wallace; Son-Jerry L. Wallace; Sister-Doris Jean Elliott and Brothers-John Willard Guthrie and Joseph Winfred Guthrie.
She is survived by her Daughter-Karen W. Mathews (Jesse); Grandchildren-Karis B. Richardson (Darryl), Chris Carter (Jessica), W. Troy Gibbs and Jesse Mathews, Jr. (Dawn) and 7 great grandchildren-Xavier Tanner and Zoe Tanner of Chesapeake VA, Jameson Carter and Joey Carter of Charleston TN and Jesse Mathews, III, Virginia Mathews and Martha Mathews of Suffolk VA.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Townley First Baptist Church with funeral services following at 2:00 PM. No graveside ceremony. Wayne Page will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Chris Carter, Troy Gibbs, Jesse Mathews, Jesse Mathews, Jr., Ben Guess and Gerald Dooley.
