It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mavis Marie Cummings, four months old daughter of Deserae Green and Jake Cummings, who unexpectedly passed away at home on May 19, 2026. Following birth at Tupelo Women’s Hospital, Mavis underwent a surgical procedure at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Despite her challenges, she proved to be a strong and determined individual. Mavis was known for her joyful demeanor and bright smile, particularly when spoken to and comfortable. Being referred to as “pretty girl” brought her immense delight, prompting smiles and cooing responses.
A celebration of life service for Mavis will be held at 4 pm Friday, May 29, 2026 in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Tony Kelsie officiating. Burial will take place at Gilvo Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 PM on Friday, May 29, 2026. Holland Funeral Directors – Tupelo Chapel is honored to serve the family. Mavis leaves behind her parents, Deserae Green and Jake Cummings, and her older sister, Harper Cummings, and other relatives and friends; her maternal grandparents, Dianna Patterson and Jimmy Green (Christie Cleveland Green), and Dorce West; her paternal grandparents, LeAnn and Kevin Cummings; and a host of other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Cummings, Dalton Green, Jimmy Green, and Joseph Cummings.
