Obituary of Jo Ann ManascoJo Ann Manasco, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend of the community, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Ridgeview Healthcare, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, hope and love. Born on August 6, 1942, she was the cherished daughter of Woodrow and Christine Ferguson Nichols.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Saragossa First Baptist. Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Edgil Grove Cemetery. Brother Shawn Morgan will officiate.

On April 9, 1959, Jo Ann married the love of her life, DeWayne Manasco. Together, they shared a beautiful life and were blessed with three children: Cozette, Trisha, and John. Early in Jo Ann’s life, she worked at Arrow Shirt Factory. Later in 1963, Jo Ann and DeWayne worked hard building the family business, Manasco Grocery. The store became the heart of the community for thirty-five years, and Jo Ann and DeWayne left a long lasting impact on many customers who quickly became a part of the Manasco Grocery family. On June 16, 1999, shortly after their retirement, Jo Ann lost her loving husband; however, the values and work ethic they shared continued on through her dedication to her family, church, and community. After DeWayne’s death, Jo Ann spent many years happily working at Bath and Body Works. In the last years of her life, Jo Ann spent her time on Nichols Road as a full time grandmother and great-grandmother.

As a great-granddaughter of the charter members of Saragossa Baptist Church, she carried on a proud family tradition as a lifelong member of the church. She gave generously of her time and talents to the church family, serving faithfully as both the song director and play director for many years.

Outside of her church and business, Jo Ann found great joy in everyday life. She loved working in her yard, sewing, and solving puzzles. Above all, her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren. Her dedication to her family and her enduring faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jo Ann’s name to the Russell Hill Cancer Foundation ( https://russelhill.org ) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://donorservices.alz.org) .
