Mrs. Carolyn BowmanCarolyn Bowman, 84, passed away Wednesday morning, May 20, at her residence in Huron. Mrs. Bowman, the widow of F. McKinley “Kenny” Bowman, was born October 21, 1941, in Memphis, TN, to the late Ellis Aldridge Smith and Elizabeth Key Smith. She had lived in Lexington since 1973 and was a retired employee of Johnson Controls. She was a good Christian woman and a member of New Beech Grove Church. She never met a stranger and loved to show love, especially through hugs. Mrs. Bowman was a fair woman, and she expected respect from others. She loved kids, flowers, gardening, and fishing.
Mrs. Bowman is survived by her son, Kenny “Shorty” Bowman, Jr. (Cassie); three daughters: Nancy Arnold, Ginger Taylor, and Amanda Bowman; six grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother, Billy Smith; two sisters: Faye Edwards and Cheryl Barnette.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Hopper; five brothers: Larry Smith, Jerry Smith, Wayne Smith, Garland Gibson, and Laurel Gibson; and two sisters: Lucille Jackson and Roberta Garroutte.
Visitation with the family will be at Pafford Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM, and on Friday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 NOON. The funeral service will be Friday at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
