Joe Don Bailey, 88, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at Limestone Health and Rehab. He was born October 3rd, 1937, in Athens, to Charles and Mary (Hargraves) Bailey, Jr.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Candy Bailey; daughters, Heather Bailey and Ashley Dobbs (Paul); grandchildren, Macy Dobbs Pierce (Hayden), Addie Grace Dobbs, and Jenna Claire Dobbs; a host of nephews and nieces; and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Bailey; son, Darren (Doc) Bailey; brother, David Bailey; sister, Dewayne Bowers; and nephews, Joe and David Bailey.
The funeral service for Mr. Bailey will be Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, at 2:00 p.m., with Bill Perkins and Matt Lovell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Paul Dobbs, Randy Bowers, Hayden Pierce, Matt Bailey, Steve Bowers, and Mark Abernathy. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
