Donald “Don” Oscar Bradford, age 78, passed away on May 14th 2026, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born on June 7th 1947 in Morgan County Alabama.

Don was raised in Athens Alabama, by his parents Walter Earl and Louise Bradford. He graduated from Athens High School and went on to build a life centered around service, friendship, and community involvement.

For more than 50 years, Donald faithfully served families as a funeral director, offering compassion and comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments. In recent years, he became a familiar and welcoming face as a door greeter with North Country in Arab, where his warm smile made everyone feel at home.

Don was deeply involved in his community. He proudly served as director with the Arab Chamber of Commerce and was honored as a citizen of the year in Arab in 2005. He was also recognized as a Marshall County Humanitarian for his dedication to helping others and his lasting impact on the community in 2010.

He loved cooking and sharing meals with friends and family, finding joy in bringing people together around food and fellowship. Donald also enjoyed keeping up with his many friends on Facebook and never met a stranger. His outgoing nature, kind heart, and gift for conversation allowed him to form countless friendships throughout his life. He truly loved people and cherished every opportunity to visit, laugh, and connect with others.

Don is survived by numerous family members, including his wife Janice Owen Bradford, sister Margaret Beard, brother Jimmy Bradford (Brenda), sons Lindsey Bradford (Lucy), Frankie Flack (Tish), David Flack (Brook). Grandchildren Tyler, Troy, Raymond, William, Brianna (Dolan), Jordan (Kenzie), Haley (Elliot), Bryceton (Madison), Bradley (Madison), and Anna (Danny). Great Grandchildren Everly, Brindly, Tucker, Riley, Sadie and Josephine.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Walter Earl and Louise Bradford and grandchild Trace Bradford.

Service will be on May 23d 2026 at New Salem Baptist Church, 590 Center Grove Rd. Sommerville AL, 35670 at 2:00 p.m. and visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers Don wished to donate to New Salem Baptist Church in Don’s honor.

Don will be remembered for his generous spirit, his servant’s heart, and the love he showed to everyone he met. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
