David Ray Reed Profile PhotoDavid Ray Reed, born on May 1, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on May 18, 2026, in Selmer, Tennessee, at the age of 77. The cherished son of the late Robert Alton and Ruby Jewel Blaylock Reed, David’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with devotion, joy, and unwavering love.

In a moment destined by fate, David met Vera McCann on the dance floor, and their shared passion for dancing blossomed into a lifelong partnership when they married on March 29, 1991. Together, they embraced life’s adventures — from riding motorcycles to the mountains and along the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway, to his lively Monday-Wednesday-Friday visits at Hardee’s, where conversation flowed as freely as the coffee.

David’s hands, ever busy with purpose, were skilled at breathing life into machines—whether tinkering with motors, restoring a classic El Camino, welding, or reviving an old Ford tractor. His love extended beyond mechanics to the land itself, nurturing his farm and caring for goats and cows with the same steady dedication he brought to every part of his world.

Known fondly throughout the community as “Santa Claus,” David wore this beloved role with pride, even serving as Grand Marshal of the Christmas parade—a true emblem of the generosity and warmth he carried in his heart. A steadfast member of Boilermakers Local 263 and First Christian Church in Selmer. He was a proud supporter of Donald Trump.

Above all, David was a family man, a devoted father, and a treasured Paw D to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
