Jane Gallaher Hodges was born March 30, 1924 on Factory Creek in Wayne County, TN to the union of the late Joseph Walter and Mattie Lou Melton Gallaher. She was a member of the 1942 graduating class of Wayne County High School. She was united in marriage to Jimmy Hodges on February 1, 1948. This union was blessed with two children; Dianne and Pam. Mr. Hodges preceded her in death on September 21, 2000. Jimmy and Jane owned the family business, Hodges Jewelry, from 1948 until 1981. She then spent her time making sure her children and grandchildren were well taken care of. She enjoyed spending time with others, leading her to become an avid bridge player. Mrs. Hodges was a faithful member of Green River Baptist Church where she proudly served as a Sunday School teacher for 55 years. Without a doubt, her deep faith in her Lord and Savior was the cornerstone in her life, spurring her to take college courses in the Bible and graduate from Liberty University. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and when possible, enjoyed hosting the entire family to spend time together. Mrs. Hodges departed this life for her eternal reward on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the Assisted Living in Waynesboro, TN making her stay in this life some 102 years, 1 month and 18 days.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dianne Ramsey (Gaines) of Waynesboro, TN; Pam Hodges of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren, Kim Plunk (Robert); Craig Ramsey; Keri Serda (Bill); Allen Scott (Mariah); She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Ryan Plunk; Cason Plunk; Hallie Plunk; Hannah Ramsey; Carter Ramsey; Catherine Ramsey; Natalie Ramsey; Parker Fox; and Hadley Fox
In addition to her parents and husband of 52 years, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Aulton Gallaher, Helene Hicks, Betty Warren, Mary Jo Miller, and Margie Griggs.
Visitation with the Hodges family will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 10:00 AM until service time at 12:00 PM at Green River Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will begin at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Green River Baptist Church with Dr. Kerry Franks officiating. Interment will follow in the Waynesboro Memorial Gardens.
