Jonathon MartinIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jonathan Wayne Martin, who departed this life too soon after an extended illness. Though our hearts grieve his loss, we find comfort in knowing that Jonathan recently came to faith, and we rest in the peace of God’s promises. Jonathan was born February 3, 1982. He was a man of many talents, deep curiosity, and quiet strength. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature. He was an avid marksman, a skilled outdoorsman, and someone who could fix just about anything. Jonathan loved to travel, enjoyed reading, and was a history buff who was always eager to learn something new. Early in life, Jonathan earned his third-degree black belt in Taekwondo, a reflection of the discipline and determination that stayed with him throughout his life. More than his many skills and interests, Jonathan will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He especially cherished the time he spent with his nephew, Donald Cole Summers, teaching him about shooting sports, the outdoors, and sharing days spent fishing together. Those lessons, memories, and moments of laughter will remain a lasting gift. Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Donald Wayne Martin; grandparents, Eugene and Violet Cole, William Martin, and Lorene (Dallas) Alexander; an aunt, an uncle, and cousins. He is survived by his loving mother, Sheila Cole Martin; sister, Cayce Laine Summers (Brad Harrison); and his beloved nephew, Donald Cole Summers. As his sister, I will remember Jonathan for his sharp mind, his willingness to help, his quiet wisdom, and the way he was always seeking to understand more about the world around him. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Though he has left this earthly life, his faith has given us hope, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Visitation for Jonathan will be Monday, May 18, 2026 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 P.M. with Josh Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Cole Summers, Brad Harrison, Benjamin Kilpatrick, David Martin, Jason Grigsby, Jeremy Grigsby, Kirk Herston, Rife Wade, & Rusty Green. Honorary Pallbearer will be David Brian Marshall.
