Funeral Services for Mrs. Karen Royster Vaughn, age 63 of Ashland, will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Millerville Baptist Church with Bro. D. Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Karen was born in Talladega and lived in Millerville most of her life. Nana loved her grandbabies and was so excited to have a great-grand. She worked as a dispatcher for the Alexander City Police Department for 28 years before retiring. Karen understood the mental toll of first responders and spend many years as a counselor for “Under The Shield” a group focused on the mental wellness of those people. She was a member of the Arts League of Clay County and loved pink flamingos and hummingbirds. She enjoyed time away watching sunsets at the beach with Stephen.

Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband Stephen Vaughn; three children, Jennifer and Josh Lawhorn, Ray and Kim Ellis and David and Kristy Vaughn; ten grandchildren, Sierra Ellis, Savannah Ellis, Michael and Skylar Lawhorn, Hannah Vaughn, Samuel and Taylor Phillips, Halle Vaughn, Corley Vaughn, Alexandra Vesser, Hunter Vesser and Jonathan Vaughn; one great-grandchild, Aliyah Phillips; sister, Gina and Darroll Hornsby; a large extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Virginia Williams; brother, Kevin Williams; 1st husband, Terry D. Royster.

Pallbearers will be Brad Cotney, Ross Cotney, Steve Cotney, Ray Webb, Sam Royster and Ethan Royster. An Honors Detail from the Alexander Police Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
