Ronald “Peanut” Dee Cox Sr., 77, of Lacey Spring, Alabama, passed away on May 11th, 2026.
Ronald was born on September 10, 1948, in Missouri, to Earnest L. Cox and Loeona Imogene (Foster) Cox. Growing up, he had several brothers and sisters. Later he moved to Lacey Springs, Alabama, where he lived most of his life.
He was a man who loved the outdoors, spending many days fishing or hunting squirrels and deer. Later in life, he found his greatest joy simply being surrounded by family and friends.
He cherished his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his great‑grandchildren, and even his great‑great‑grandchildren—each one held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed country and gospel music, Friday nights with pizza and a beer at Terry’s Pizza, and fried catfish whenever he could get it.
His favorite places were the beach and the mountains. And if you ever visited him, you knew the TV would be tuned to westerns, wrestling, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, or the day’s news. Though not active in sports, he was a proud and loyal Alabama fan.
He survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Cox; two sons, Ronald Cox Jr. and Stanley Cox; stepdaughter, Teresa Davis, stepson, James Birmingham; many grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ronald will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his deep love for his family, and the simple joys that made his life full. He will be missed dearly.
Services will be held at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville on Friday, May 15th, 2026. The Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with the Funeral Service at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Stateline Cemetery in Hazel Green, Alabama.
