Thomas Logan McCarty of Huntsville AL, age 85, passed away surrounded by loved ones, early Sunday morning, April 21, 2024.

Tom was born on February 22, 1939, in Los Angeles, CA.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janeane McCarty, as well as his father Thomas A. McCarty, his mother Annette Logan McCarty and his niece Kimberly Ellen Mori McCarty.

Tom is survived by his brother Terry and his wife Peggy McCarty, 4 nephews and their wives, Steve and Ibis, Keith and Lisa, Jeff and Lisa East and Dave and Emma McCarty and many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from California High School in Whittier, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for three years before being honorably discharged at Redstone Arsenal. It was during this time that he settled in Huntsville and met the love of his life, Janeane, with whom he shared 57 happy years of marriage. Tom’s professional journey began at SCI before he ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing his own electronic component rep firm in 1977. His dedication to his work was evident through his active involvement in the local business community, where he forged lasting friendships.

Beyond his career, Tom was a pillar of support for various charitable organizations such as Jr. Achievement, the Humane Society and the Huntsville Planning Commission. He dedicated time and effort to lead projects that made a positive impact on those around him. One of Tom’s greatest joys was the home he and his wife built on Montesano Mountain overlooking the city they loved. In his leisure time, Tom indulged in hobbies such as snow and water skiing, rollerblading, running, and exploring nature. An avid traveler with a deep appreciation for all living creatures, Tom was a passionate advocate for dogs, cats and the welfare of all wildlife.
