Mr. Ronald Louis Bailey, 74, a long time resident of Columbia, died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Born on September 15, 1947 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Walter Bailey and the late Helen Eddleman Bailey. He served in the United States Army and retired from the Maury County Highway Department in traffic control. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Columbia for over twenty years and enjoyed participating in the Fruit of the Vine. He enjoyed spending time with his closest friends at THE SHOP and was an avid Tennessee Vols fan and attended many games to cheer on his favorite team. He spent the last three years of his life living with his daughter and son-in-law making special memories with his grandchildren, great-grandchild and his two special friends, Granny (Patsy Carroll) and Harley, the family dog.
Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda (Billy Ray) Carroll, Jr. of Hampshire; grandchildren, Josh McConnell, Jacob McConnell, Briar Carroll and Kayleigh Carroll; great grandchild, Hayes Roberts; and a brother, Timmy (Barbara) Bailey of Spring Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Walton Louis Bailey; twin brother, Donald Bailey; sister, Sandra Tomlin; brother, Gary Bailey and beloved dog of seventeen years, Precious.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Floyd, Buford Moss, Wayne Smith, Randy Staggs, Ed “Turtle” Lee, Larry Peach, Steve Kelley, and Ronnie Thurman. Honorary pallbearers will be his closest friends from THE SHOP and Ricky Duberry.
