Chester Norman Grigsby, age 89, of Florence, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 4, from Noon-2 p.m. at Spry~Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Michael Cole officiating. Interment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Allen Hanvey, Wes, Jason & Joe Hamilton, Jeff and Joel Lockley and Matt Grigsby.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John Pennington, Derek Stracener, Roe “Red” Mansell, Greg Walker and “Big” Ed Kelly.

Mr. Grigsby was a member of Weeden Heights United Methodist Church, was an avid Ham Radio Operator most of his life and was retired from Reynolds Metals Company. He was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II. After retirement, he enjoyed building blue bird houses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burney & Emma Coats Grigsby; sisters, Ruby Lehde, Muriel Burks & Jean Hardin; brother, Wayne “Picker” Grigsby; grandsons, Michael Hanvey & Jerome Grigsby.

Survivors include, Wife of 66 years, Christine Rhodes Grigsby; Children, Brenda Hanvey, Sandra Hamilton (Wesley) Connie Posey (Rickey), David Grigsby (Vicki);

Nine Grandchildren; Sixteen Great Grandchildren.
