James Leonard Pruitt – Obituary

James Leonard Pruitt, age 87 of Double Springs, entered into rest on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 21, 1925, in Double Springs, Alabama to Calup and Rhoda Hasford Pruitt. He was a member of Pine Grove Church of God for 72 years. His hobbies were logging, gardening, building bird houses and rock work. He worked as a millwright at TMA Forest Products.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 6-9pm at Pine Grove Church of God in Double Springs, where services will be held on Sunday, December 2, at 2pm. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs. Brother T.J Millican, Brother Raymond Stewart and Brother Ronnie Blankenship will officiate.

He is survived by his son, Lanier (Freda) Pruitt; daughter, Clara Biltoft; brother, Ervin Pruitt; sister, Jane Canady; he was PawPaw to 4 grandchildren, Taffy (Chuck) Myers, Marola (Steve) Fields, Nina (Jeff) Miller, Brandon (Kristen) Pruitt and 2 step-grandchildren, Tim (Tiffany) Daughdrill, and Tammy (Ty) Askew, and 6 great grandchildren, Jared Myers, Cameron Miller, Hunter Fields, Calub Pruitt, Kaitlyn and Jayla Cumberland; and 9 step great grandchildren, Nick Maze, Cayden Postell, Mallory Jones (her son Carter), Melaine, Elizabeth and Cheyenne Daughdrill, Michael (Margie and their Daughter Madison) Daughdrill, Chase Walker, and Jacob Lowe.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorea Maze Pruitt; parents, Calup and Rhoda Hasford Pruitt; brothers, Oscar, Andrew, Eli, Leroy and Cecil Pruitt; sister, Lizzie Dickinson Beasley; and son-in-law, Dennis Biltoft.
