FLORENCE-The 4th Annual Plunge into the New Year-Pledging to Prevent Suicide was held on Wednesday, January 1 and brought out hundreds of brave people, young and old to help bring awareness to military veteran suicide (22 every day). The river dive has evolved as more was learned about how impactful suicide is throughout every facet of our community; first responders, teenagers, parents, poor, and rich. Today’s Polar Plungers did not turn a blind eye as hundreds took the plunge to help bring awareness to suicide.
Last year’s Plunge brought together over 300 people and raised over $2,000 for the AFSP and this year as many or more were on hand to take the plunge. The Quad Cities Daily captured the event in photos and we are pleased to present them to you here.
