Bennie Will Shirley Wallace, 93, of Haleyville entered into rest on Monday, October 1, 2012 at Lakeland Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 31, 1919. Mrs. Wallace was a member of Corinth Heights Baptist Church. She worked for Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Fuller for 60 years and then went to work for the State of Alabama. Bennie was a member of the Haleyville Rescue Squad and enjoyed sports, cooking, and raising children. Family and friends knew her as “Bennie Will”.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6-8pm at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville. She will lie in state from 10-11am at Corinth Heights Baptist Church on Friday, October 5, 2012, where services will be held at 11am. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery. Brother Rickey White, Brother Lance Hogan, and Dana Wallace will officiate.
Bennie is survived by her son, H. Dana (Patricia) Wallace; sister, Celia (Charlie) Harris; sister-in-law, Lorine Hubbard. She had 3 grandchildren Phillip (Donna) Williams, Elaine (Todd) Stevenson, and Deitrick (Misty) Wallace I. She had 5 great grandchildren, Tyler (Kristi) Williams, Ryan Thompson, Kristen Williams, Trevante Williams and Deitrick Wallace II.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Henry A “Wash” Wallace; daughter, Doris A. Williams; parents, Jessie and Lula Shirley; brothers, Jessie Shirley Jr., Linwood Shirley, Leon Shirley; Clyde Shirley, I.B. Shirley; sisters, Gertrude Leech, Leola Davis and Flora Smith.
