Mary Joyce Dodson, 80, of LaVergne, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. Mrs. Dodson was born in Franklin County on May 14, 1936 to the late Betsy and M.C. Gardner. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Dodson Sr. Survivors include son, William Dodson Jr.; daughter, Deborah Dodson; sister, Jewell Hagood; niece, Myra Hagood; cousin, Francis Chandler; friends at LaVergne Senior Citizen Center and friends at Perry Heights Church of Christ.
Mary was employed for many years by Vanderbilt University’s Undergraduate Department of Admissions office. She enjoyed sewing and creating various crafts and clothing.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8th at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
