Untitled-1This is a first in a series of Restaurant Reviews of local venues.  We will concentrate on new businesses in hopes of getting information to the hungry folks in the Shoals Area.   Our first stop is 306 Barbecue located at 322 North Court Street, in Florence, Alabama.  There is a location in Athens and Madison, Alabama, but we are going to focus on the Florence Location.

We arrived at 306 Barbecue at 5PM on a Saturday afternoon.  There was a good crowd inside.  I don’t know what I was expecting, but walking through the doors, it sure wasn’t what I expected.  The eating area is huge.  Several booths and tables line the area.  There is plenty of comfortable room to enjoy your food.  I was impressed to say the least.

Walking to the counter, the menu on the wall is large and easy to read. There are also several paper menus on the counter if you prefer that way.  The menu lists single Untitled-1plates, sandwiches, sides, and combos.  Hmm, what to get?  I decided on the Pulled Pork and Chicken Fingers Combo, with a side of Baked Beans and Mac & Cheese.  My guest got the Pulled Pork with Brown Sugar Green Beans and Potato Salad.

Sitting down, we got our plates shortly thereafter.  Below is a picture of mine.  Now, let’s take about the food.  The Barbecue was tender, juicy with a smoked taste.  The Chicken Fingers tasted fabulous.   The Mac & Cheese was good.  I am not a great big fan of Baked Beans, but like them if they are really thick.  The Baked Beans were thick and had a good taste.  They did have a little too much Bell Pepper and Onion flavor for me, but that’s just me.

My Guest let me try the Brown Sugar Green Beans.  I had never had those before.  They were really good.  I would definitely get those again.  The Potato Salad had a strong Mayo taste in it, but some people like that.  My Guest liked their dinner and have gone back since our visit.

Returning to my chair, I decide that this will be my first review.  Let’s see, I have notes on the Decorations, food, and Bar 316 BBQArea.  What am I missing?   Of course, how could I Forget?  Dessert.  I see that 306 Barbecue has Banana Pudding in several sizes.  Getting a small size, I decided that the first spoonful will determine the rating.  Placing the Pudding in my mouth, it is smooth, creamy and very tasty.  Thumbs up.

So, if you want some Barbecue and are in Florence, stop by 306 Barbecue.  There is a family atmosphere as well as a Bar Area that you can visit.  The food is really good.  I am going to give it 3 Chee sticks out of a possible 5 Chee sticks.  Yes, folks that is a scientific measuring scale.  Try it.  You won’t be sorry.
