marthaMartha B. Putman

Mrs. Putman died peacefully on the afternoon of Dec. 17 at the age of 81. She was a simple, but strong woman who worked hard from a very young age. Though she held many jobs throughout her life, she was most well known and loved as the “Pie Lady” at Singleton’s Bar-B-Que for nearly two decades.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Putman. She is survived by her daughter Peggy Singleton and her husband Rick; two granddaughters of whom she was most proud: Scarlett Nokes (John) and Stephane Bolton (Brad); and two great-granddaughters.
A private graveside service was held on Dec. 18 at Tri Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence.
The family wishes to thank Jean Ann with ElderCare and Julie, Brian, Joann, Brittany, and Holly with Gentiva Hospice, who all cared for Mrs. Putman over the last several weeks. They also send heartfelt thanks to Mike and Gwen McCain and all of Mrs. Putman’s Bellemeade neighbors for their friendship and concern for Mrs. Putman over the years. The family is grateful to Williams Funeral Home for their graciousness in making the arrangements and to the local law enforcement community for their support, especially Andy Corbett who assisted with the memorial service.
Memorials may be made to SafePlace.
