Florence – The South team defeated the North team by a score of 26 – 14, but the South team dominated in all of the stats. However, the purpose of the game was not to win or loose, but for the players to show off their skills to the Pro Scouts that were present.
Coach Johnny Majors, famed former Tennessee Head Coach was elated that his team performed well. After the conclusion of the game, Coach Majors was presented the Game Ball by his team. He told the team that he had had a great time coaching them and knew they were all top performers.
Several of the players that we talked with were excited for the opportunity to perform for the scouts. UNA was represented on the South Team by two former players, Josh Roberts and Wes Holland. Both young men had a great outing.
In talking with Mark Linder, Athletic Director at UNA about the crowd attendance, he told us that while the crowd was not as large as they would have liked to have, it was still a decent crowd for a new event. All expectations is that the game attendance will expand as more football fans in the area discover the game should it played at Braly Stadium again next year.
