Florence, Alabama – Every year, hundreds of University of North Alabama (UNA) fans come out to see the spectacular parade floats that make their way down Court Street and this year was no exception. UNA kicked off their 2012 edition this past Saturday with Police sirens blaring, pretty girls a smilin’, boys styling and profiling, politicians a waving and kids a scrabbling for the goodies being thrown from the floats.
There were families, friends and spectators lining Court Street from Tuscaloosa Street to Tennessee Street with more gathered in front of the Main Post Office on Seminary Street to witness the spectacle. The weather cooperated with the morning starting out cloudy and the overcast skies clearing somewhat by the time the parade got underway at 11 am. What once was a fear of precipitation turned into a delightful morning.
One of the primary themes of several of the floats this year was the return to UNA of legendary football Coach Bobby Wallace, ole three-peat himself. With Coach Wallace’s return there are high hopes for the football program and Coach Wallace aims to deliver.
