Dead Horses Lead Phil Campbell Man To Animal Cruelty Charges

LARRY-BURLESONPHIL CAMPBLL-A man was arrested and charged with twelve counts of animal cruelty in Franklin County on Saturday.  Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver reported that the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a neighbor who noticed dead and unhealthy animals on someone’s property.  When deputies arrived, they found four dead animals, including three horses and a mule according to authorities.

Deputies said the animals had no feed, the pasture was in bad condition and only water was available. The other unhealthy animals were horses and mules.”It was so bad that we found signs where the animals had been eating trees and the bark, trying to find any kind of nourishment,” Oliver said. “They were not being taken care of. From the looks of things, they hadn’t been taken care of in a while.”

Larry Colombus Burleson, 61 of Phil Campbell was arrested on Saturday and charged wit 12 counts of animal cruelty.  His bail was set at $6000.00 and he was released on Monday after he made bail.
