10 child predators arrested in joint operation with Madison County District Attorney’s Office

HUNTSVILLE-Ten individuals are facing a combined 34 charges following a successful two-day joint operation carried out by the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) in partnership with the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.

The operation, held June 13–14, proactively focused on identifying and arresting individuals attempting to engage in unlawful sexual activity with minors. Undercover officers posed as minors in online forums and messaging platforms. Each suspect initiated contact, believing they were communicating with an underage child, and arranged to meet in person to exchange money or goods for sex acts.

“This operation is part of HPD’s unwavering commitment to protect our children from online predators,” said Police Chief Kirk Giles. “We will continue to work aggressively to identify, investigate and bring these offenders to justice.”

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

  • Darryl Lamont Surles Jr. , 33, Toney, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of child and one count of traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

  • Marshae Deshawn Rivers, 33, Huntsville, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a child, one count of traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex Act, one count distribute/transmit obscene material to a child by electronic device and one count possession of controlled substance opium or derivative.

  • Damien Darrell Jones, 36, Huntsville, AL
    • Charges: Two counts of first-degree human trafficking, two counts of electronic solicitation of child and one count of traveling to meet a child for unlawful sex act.

  • John Wayne Erby, 59, Holly Pond, AL
    • Charges: One Count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a child for unlawful sex act.

  • Rubin Epps Banks, 44, Madison, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

  • Oliver Clemente, 40, Huntsville, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a Child and one count of traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

  • Jared Lavon Breach-Marrow, 29, Huntsville, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a child for unlawful sex act.

 

  • Jahsiem Ramiek Davis, 31, Huntsville, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a child for unlawful sex act.

  • Jesus Alberto Moran-Carpio, 32, Huntsville, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a child for unlawful sex act.

  • Heriberto Priego Ramirez, 33, Huntsville, AL
    • Charges: One count of first-degree human trafficking, one count of electronic solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a child for unlawful sex act.

All individuals arrested remain under ongoing investigation. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.

Each individual is scheduled for an Aniyah’s Law hearing, which will determine whether they may be held without bond due to the severity of the offenses.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
