Jerry Van Wales, 76, of Elkmont, passed away on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Wales was born on February 19th, 1946, to Van Buren Wales and George Ethel Rochell Wales.
Mr. Wales is survived by his wife Julia Wales; son Duane Wales (Kim); daughter Jessica Barlow (Chris); grandchildren Bryant Wales (Ashley); Anna Grace Wales; Caroline Barlow; Parker Barlow; sisters Nancy Bailey (Joe) and Lynne Weigart (Keith); along with several nephews and his special fur baby, Ty.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Tommy Ray Wales, and grandson Jake Henry Barlow.
Funeral services for Mr. Wales will be on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Bill Cantrell, Steve Ferguson, and Bryant Wales officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 6th, 2023, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Stan Bates, Steve Bates, Joe Bates, Bryant Wales, Parker Barlow, and Paxton Weigart.
Mr. Wales was a shop foreman at Limestone County Board of Education School Bus Garage for 32 years. He loved cars, Nascar racing, and was an avid Alabama football fan. He was also a member of Elkmont Church of Christ.
